We believe most people want to be green, they just need some ideas on how to do that without breaking out the mung bean wedding cake and drum circle. Meet the Party Goddess . . .
Melissa Wagner-Gens grew up in a small town in southwest Colorado, where she was active in theater & the local community. She began planning weddings in college for her friends and family. She also began heavy event coordination in her professional arena as well. First as an executive secretary & later as a senior project manager, Melissa’s party prowess continued to grow. When she hit her 50th wedding coordination, she knew it was time to begin doing what she loved for a living.
Melissa is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) through The Project Management Institute (PMI) as well as a certified Wedding Coordinator through the International Institute of Weddings. She is a current member of both organizations.
Melissa is the resident wedding expert for both Allen Style Magazine & The Green Parent celebrity blog. Her article Green Weddings: Save the Date; Save the Planet – A guide to making your day eco-chic was picked up by Reuters News Service as well as several other eco-friendly websites. She also teaches a wedding planner certification course at the local community college.
She has been highlighted by Figure Magazine as a plus size business owner who exemplifies green business practices.
Melissa is currently working on a eco-chic certification course for event planners & a book – Party Goddess 101 – Fantastic Parties for Mere Mortals.
A recent newlywed herself, (She married the love of her life, Mr. G in October 2009 in a vintage & eco-chic soiree) Melissa understands both distinct sides of weddings - The blushing bride's and the perky planner's.
